About a month ago I was browsing on the Ulta site and came across the EcoTools Pure Complexion Facial Sponge for only $5.99, rewind a few months ago when I was browsing the Sephora site and I came across an $18 facial sponge from Boscia called Konjac Cleansing Sponge. I went back on the Ulta site and purchased the EcoTools sponge thinking it may be an affordable dupe for the Boscia one. Of course this post is not a comparison because I do not own that more expensive one but rather a first impressions and quick review of the EcoTools Pure Complexion Facial Sponge!
What is this Complexion Facial Sponge? Well here's what EcoTools had to say: "The new unique Pure Complexion Facial Sponge is handmade with 100 percent natural ingredients, including Konjac* vegetable fiber, for a better clean that reveals smooth, refreshed skin. It is dermatologist tested for use both morning and night to wash away dirt, oil and makeup, leaving skin glowing without over-drying or causing redness. * Konjac is a highly renewable root plant indigenous to Asia. It’s traditionally used as a detoxifying dietary staple and as a naturally exfoliating sponge for delicate skin by the Japanese." As you can see it is made out of the same Boscia sponge: Konjac, and I do have to agree with EcoTools this facial sponge does provide smooth and refreshed skin and I believe it is because of the material that this sponge is made out of.
When you first open the packaging this sponge is so hard, and almost feels like actual styrofoam, but once water is absorbed into it then it becomes this very smooth and soft material (see my video below), making it sort of relaxing to wash your face. I purchased the sensitive skin one but they do have a deep cleansing which I have not tried and cannot tell you if it feels differently on the face.
I do love the EcoTools Pure Complexion Facial Sponge for giving me a smooth and refresh feeling to my face, I do believe it does a great job in absorbing oils from my face and clearing out dirt stuck on my skin. However I don't find this sponge very useful in removing makeup, even when using waterproof makeup remover cleansers, therefore I do like to use this in the mornings and when I do not wear makeup but want to wash off dirt and oils from my face and just want a clean refreshed feeling on my skin.
Is it worth $5.99, yes I believe so, can I live without it? Yes I can but I love how it feels on my skin. Would I ever try the Boscia sponge, probably not since this has been doing a great job so far in giving me soft and smoother skin.
