2) Do your homework; what I mean by this is look up prices online a few days prior, check sale ads, compare prices (online) with different stores. By doing this (along with making a list) you already know where to get a good deal, and even if you get tempted to impulse buy, at least you have a good idea as to whether something is a good deal or not. In fact, I generally look over ads over a period of a couple of weeks that way I see the sale patterns that stores have and know exactly when a sale will occur and whether I am saving any money on that purchase. Stores like Ulta for example will have a certain sale one week and then 2 weeks later the same sale again, if you do your homework early enough then you know when you'll get a better deal simply by doing a little bit of research.
3) Shop early; aside from the massive crowds on Christmas eve you really want to shop early that way you get exactly what you want and you don't have to compromise on the gift or the price. I can't tell you how many times I wasn't able to buy a certain gift because it was sold out by mid December. By shopping early you actually get a much better price on literally everything vs waiting until the last minute. A lot of the popular beauty gifts sell out rather quickly, particularly if a store is offering a discount like Ulta's $3.50 off weekly coupons or Sephora's VIB 20% off sales. By shopping early you avoid having to compromise or settle for gifts that you normally wouldn't want to buy just because everything else is sold out by then!
4) Buy value sets; when it comes to beauty products my suggestion is to always buy value sets because you get the most bang for your buck. A lot of people tend to steer away from value sets because they usually are priced pretty high however these sets are generally worth double to triple the actual price of the items. For example Sephora's Give Me More Lip Set is priced at $59, this is a set with 16 lip products, some full sized and some minis however the value of this set is over $209 dollars! My suggestions for these types of sets is that you can either give 1 lucky person the whole set OR as what I like to do, is use a couple of the products from the set as stocking stuffers!
These are just a few tips that I've been practicing over the past few years, my motto as many of you know is that you don't have to compromise on beauty or fashion when you're on a budget...having said that, holiday shopping should be fun and exciting, so if you follow the steps above not only will you save money but you and your family will love the gifts you give them! Happy Holidays friends!
