Guest Post: Summer Color Trends for Lips and Nails

Check out the lovely Jessica as she discusses the latest Summer Color Trends for Lips and Nails, by showing you affordable drugstore options that look fabulous!

Bold colors are EVERYWHERE this year and bold lips and nails are making a huge statement. All cosmetic lines are carrying these colors - from M.A.C. to Wet 'N' Wild, I promise you will find your perfect color. Some of these colors are based on the 2012 Pantone Colors. I could have picked 300 colors, but below you will find some of my favorites and I hope yours too!

Some of you may be thinking - "I could never wear that color"- and I thought the same exact thing when I bought my first orange lipstick. Here are some tricks that will help you get comfortable with the bright colors.

Lips: Start of with a lighter version of the bright colors, maybe in a lip gloss or sheer chap stick. Then gradually work your way up by wearing one swipe of the bolder color with the light gloss over it. Eventually you will get used to seeing the bold color on your lips and you will feel more comfortable wearing it.

Here are my 4 favorite lip colors

#1 : Neon Pastel Pink --This gorgeous color can be worn on any skin type with any hair color. some say this is the new RED lipstick - to be worn with everything. my favorites : Smashbox Be Legendary in Pout $19 and Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Cupcake $7.

Shown here in Emma Stone

#2: Coral-Orange --This is a color I have worn in the Winter as well. the coral-orange hue looks great on women with darker hair, but not limited to of course. blonde's - you try it too! I love :Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Kiss Me Coral $5 and Sephora True Cream Lip Color in Sunset Rhythm $12.

Shown here in Zooey Deschanel
#3: Hot Shimmer Pink --This pink, compared to the neon pastel pink (#1) has more of a shimmer to it as #1 has more of a 'matte' feel. this pink to me is more 'girly' and reminds me of Barbie. I am currently craving :CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Enchantress $6 and The Balm-Read My Lips in Gossip Shimmering Pink $17.

Shown here on Emily Blunt

#4: Tangerine --Tangerine is the Pantone Color of 2012, so by law of the fashion gods (not really such a thing unless we're talking Anna Wintour) this color is to be seen on lips. Sephora and Pantone Universe teamed up to make this beautiful color - Tangerine Tango $13. I also love Milani Color Perfect Lipstick in Mandarina $4.

Shown here in Kate Bosworth
Nails: If you think some of these colors below are too bold for your nails, start off with wearing the color of your choice on your toes. Then work your way up to an accent nail (example: nude nails mixed with a tangerine accent nail - like your ring finger).

Here are my 5 favorite nail colors

Bright Chartreuse: This is such a unique and vibrant color. I picked Urban Outfitters Nail Polish in Slime $5

Pink Flambe: For this color I chose Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Fuchsia Power $2.49

Olympian Blue: When I applied this color, I was shocked...so it may take a minute to get used to. For this color I chose L' OrealColour Riche in Jet Set To Paris $5

Tangerine Tango: One of my favorite colors right now. I chose Revlon Colorstay in Marmalade $4.99

Ultramarine Green: I chose Sinful Colors Professional in Rise & Shine $1.99

  7. Great post!
The weather here in the UK has been so crap that I have found myself injecting a lot more colour in to my look than I usually would in a bit to cheer up myself (and hopefully my colleagues)
And I have found that even something as simple as a bold nail colour can make me smile when I look down at my hands while I am typing.
