Metallic in 2012 Fashion Trends for Less

There are a lot of new and interesting trends that have been circulating a lot in 2011, but are evident that they will continue to be popular well into 2012.  As mentioned in a prior post, Glamor.com has a slideshow on the Most Wearable Fashion Trends for Spring 2012, and last week's trend I focused on was Color Blocking, you can click here to check that out!

For this week's trend I wanted to focus on Metallics.  Aside from a lot of runway models showcasing this up & coming fashion trend, a lot of celebrities have also been spotted sporting this look particularly at events.  The great thing about this trend, and why it will be one of the hottest trends in 2012,  is because it is a very versatile trend which can be worn down or glammed up.  You can spice up an outfit by simply adding a hint of metallic or go all out for an all Glam look and sport an entire Metallic look as seen in the celebrities below.

 Obviously we all can't afford these fabulous outfits that the above celebrities are sporting, however we do have options out there!  A lot of department stores are up to date with all the new and up coming fashion trends, and are all very affordable! I believe Metallics is a fashion trend that will be very popular in 2012 simply because of its vibrancy, its boldness, and it's elegance!

You can easily wear jeans/t-shit but top it off with metallic shoes and/or a metallic purse and you have a very wearable every day look with a little touch of glam.  Yet on the other hand  you can sport a metallic dress on a night out for a more elegant or bold look; the possibilities are endless with this trend.

The Bare Escentuals Minerals Pretty Amazing Lip Color  is a very hydrating lip product  with an unbelievable texture.  This product's long lasting power  is very similar to a lipstick (3-4 hours),  yet the texture is so creamy (like a thick liquid lipstick) that it's not like anything else out there in the beauty market right now.  This product has an insatiable shine to it, and the colors are all very pigmented, that a little product does go a long way!  The applicator wand is firm yet flexible enough to contour your lips which applies an even coat of application.

You can purchase the Bare Escentuals Minerals Pretty Amazing Lip Color at Sephora (or bareescentuals.com) Standard product is a 1.3Fl.oz for $16, which is on the high end price tag for a lip product, however Sephora has a lot of holiday deals right now, and that's where I picked mine up.  It came in a package with a mineral blush,  a blush brush, and this lip color all for $10.

I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to try something different other than the typical lipstick or standard lip-gloss.  Although the retail price is pretty pricey for a 1.3 Fl. Oz container, I do believe the holiday deal Sephora has right now is amazing, 3 products for only $10.  I am very curious to find out if anyone has purchased any awesome holidays deals and limited offers packaging, such as this one.

imPRESS Press-On Manicure Review

imPRESS Press-On Manicure nails are described as being the revolutionary way to apply polish! 

Well, after seeing so many reviews and raves about the imPRESS press-on nails that I received free from Influenster's Voxbox, I had really high hopes and very high expectations (If you don't know what Influenster is, check out my previous post here explaining the site & process).

The set of nails I received is called "Space Cadet" and the pattern is very glam glittery pebbles.

 What is great about these nails is that the process of applying is literally 4  steps and very simple; clean your nails (with the alcohol pad provided), match and find the perfect size, peel the sticker from the nail, and press the nails on.  There is no drying time so these nails are great and easily applied even on the go or when running late.  They are also easy to take off, and no need for acetone or ruining your natural nails since no nail glue is being applied.

 I use my hands very actively throughout the day, so in terms of lasting power, the nails only lasted a few days (compared to the 7 days that the company claims).  I believe part of the problem was that the nails didn't quite sit flush enough on my natural nails, the press-on nails felt a bit bulky and didn't fit properly towards my cuticles.  In fact even though there were 24 nails with different sizes, it was a bit hard to find a perfect match,  also some of the nails were a bit rough on the edges which made the smaller sizes uncomfortable.

 I like that this product comes in many different patterns (along with matte colors) so you can mix and match depending on your mood or the occasion, also I am a huge fan of not using nail glue since it does damage the natural nails, so it's great that these are press-on nails.  I would highly recommend this product for a 1-2 night event such as a wedding, a date, or prom, simply because they do look very nice yet the lasting power is not the same as a salon manicure so they wouldn't work as great for everyday use.

Color Blocking in 2012 Fashion Trends for Less

I recently saw a slideshow on Glamour.com which discussed Spring 2012's Most Wearable Fashion Trends; it showcased a lot of great trends to look forward to for the upcoming year! That slideshow which you can find here, inspired me to do a Fashion Trends for Less post simply because we all cannot afford designer name clothing but still want to dress fashionably and wear current trends!

The Fashion trend that stood out to me the most was "Color Blocking" as seen below a lot of celebrities already have been seen modeling the trend.  Color Blocking is basically taking colors that are sort of opposite from one another, yet can compliment each other.

Here are some alternative options of Color Blocking, which are super affordable yet are very stylish:

Keep in mind with Color Blocking you don't necessarily have to stick with just clothing, you can spice up your look by having a bold & bright color on your nails (lets say aqua green) or even multi-colored accessories, and pair it up with a bright fun shirt (let's say pink) with blue jeans.

Any possibility is possible, just keep in mind that you don't have to spend a fortune following current and future fashion trends, follow current sales at local department stores and you will be able to find the same trends that celebrities are currently styling!

NYC New York Color -- Liquid Lipshine Review

NYC Liquid Lipshine is described as having "pure pigments that create a 3-D gloss effect. Vitamin E provides shine and a moisturizing feel. The formula is non-sticky, super shiny & soft. " 

I received this product free from Influenster’s Holiday VoxBox. 

If you don't know what Influenster is, check out my previous post here explaining the site & process.

 NYC products are one of my favorite drugstore brands, simply because they are super affordable yet are of great quality! So when I received this Lipshine in my VoxBox I was very excited! 

The Lipshine that I received is a very nude color compared to my natural lip color (in fact the color name is #582 Nude York City), with a slight tint of glitter/shimmer.  The name “lipshine” is right on simply because the product is super shiny and glossy!  All you need to apply is a minimal amount of product to achieve that perfect shine. 

 What I love about this product is that it is not sticky at all like some other lip glosses that I’ve tried.  Although it does apply very smoothly, what I did notice is that if you do pack on too much product then yes it will feel sticky, so keep that in mind.  

 The wand is a bit different on this lipshine than any other gloss; it actually slightly moves/bends which I love because it allows for better gloss application.  When the wand moves a bit it allows me to apply an even amount of shine with minimal effort!  The lipshine has no taste/flavor to it; however it does have a slight sweet scent, which I enjoy very much!

Overall this is a great product, not only is it affordable (retails at $2.49 at local drugstores like Rite Aid, and Target) but the quality is great!  This NYC Liquid Lipshine would be perfect on its own or above your favorite lipstick! I definitely recommend this product to anyone who is on a budget or simply wants a combination of lipshines without having to fork over a ton of money!
