E.L.F. Cosmetics Likes & Dislikes

I don’t know about you, but I love E.L.F products.  They are very affordable since most of their single products are less than $3 bucks! I've tried out quiet a few of their products, and I want to share with you some of my favorites, and a few I don’t plan on purchasing again.  For those of you who don’t know what E.L.F is, it is a cosmetics company that started off selling these very affordable products for $1 dollar each.  Their products ranged with anything from single eye shadows, to eyeliners, face powder, etc.  Now days the also have a “higher quality” studio line, and the prices are around $3 bucks each products.  The also have great eye shadow palettes that go for about $10 dollars and up.  I’ve been able to find these products at Target, K-mart, and Big Lots, and you can also purchase them on their site which is eyeslipsface.com.

The first product I absolutely love is their Clarifying Face Powder priced at $1. I ran out of the lightest shade which is tone 1, this is what I was using to set my liquid foundation, but I do have a shade darker (tone 2) which is too dark for my face so I use it as a bronzer.  It has great staying power, it looks very natural, and you can definitely build up coverage with a few applications.  They are both easily bendable, whether you are using it as a setting powder or a bronzer.  This is a product I continually purchase, I’ve been a long term fan of this product, and I am very delighted that my local Target carries it, since I don’t shop online very often.

The next product I love is their Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder priced at $1. When I am tanned in the summer months I usually use this as an all over glow on my face and neck, but when I am not as tanned, I will use this as a cheek highlighter/bronzer.  This product is very pigmented so a little goes a long way.  Yes it does have some shimmers in it, but I don’t mind because it makes me glow and that’s exactly why I use it.  This bronzer also blends in very easily, and it is very manageable with a blush/bronzer brush.

My favorite E.L.F. product is the 100 Eye Shadow palettes, which I purchased from Target for $10 bucks.  I love this palette because there are so many different shades, and different variation of shades.  Yes some are shimmery, and some are matte, so you can definitely use this palette for work, or for going out at night.  The staying power is really good, I haven’t had any problems with the shadow creasing or fading away.  Of course with a shadow primer the colors will look even more vibrant then they already are, but I usually do without a primer since I only need my shadows to last 8-9 hours.

Two of the products I am not a fan of are their Regular & Waterproof Mascaras and Brightening Eyeliners.  The mascara for me personally smeared a lot, it didn’t dry fast enough, and the product didn’t apply as evenly as I would have liked.  The eyeliner has great pigmentation, and goes on very smoothly and easily, however I had a problem with it smearing from my lower lash line onto my face; also it doesn’t dry as much as I would have liked it to.  In addition, another E.L.F. product I didn’t particularly care for is the Studio Tone Correcting Powder.  I definitely had high hopes for this product and I thought what a great deal for $3 bucks…however I wasn’t so impressed once I tried it.  The powder comes off as white not so much translucent, and I felt that it came off too much like chalk and didn’t blend into my face very well.

If you are an online shopper, the ELF site always has good deals on shipping and handling, they always have some sort of promo or deal going on.  Target has a great selection of both the original products and the studio line.  In addition, they also have holiday palettes which are very affordable, and after the holidays, they always go on sale for 50% off.  Overall, I highly suggest everyone to try out these products, they are extremely affordable, and they have a wide selection of products to choose from whether you shop on their site, or in any retail like Target or K-Mart.
